Resources for writers

Fiction
This month the Helping Writers Become Authors site offers an article on writing happy scenes. The author, K. M. Weiland, offers weekly newsletters, huge resources, and fascinating material. Recommended by a member of my critique group. I decided to give it a try too.

Do you know any young people who are interested in writing and need inspiration to get started writing or keep going? The Writer Practice site offers such topics on their blog.

Creative Nonfiction
If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at writing creative nonfiction, this master class offers great information, from writing prompts to a post by Malcolm Gladwell.

Purdue University offers information on many literary topics, and one that I noticed in particular is a writing creative nonfiction class.

Poetry
The Poet’s Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry  This sounds like a good addition to any collection of writing guides, especially those who dabble in poetry or take it more seriously.

Writers Digest also offers prompts and articles on writing better poetry here. I have drawn on this resource especially in April, Poetry Month.

While looking through Read Poetry.com, I found several areas of interest to explore. Perhaps this one will be useful while you’re on vacation to find topics to write about, from a particular place.

For days when inspiration runs thin
You can always count on Writer’s Digest to provide ammunition for days when you just cannot get started.

As always, reading in the genre you write offers new insights as well as Learning from other writers.

See my August 2022 newsletter for more resources.

Disclosure: I am not an affiliate of any external sites, meaning I don’t get paid for sharing the links. Just thought they might be of interest to you as fellow writers.
